On 9th of May an event was scheduled for students of Friends for Life and the children of Dzungu community in Ukunda, Kwale county. The event was organised in cooperation with local charity ‘Just be a child’. Due to rains the event was postponed with a week and finally, on 16th of May the event took place. For one day, a group of around 15 students of Friends for Life, became ‘youth leaders’ and entertained some 100 children from the Dzungu community that showed up on this day. The event was organised by Friends for Life students and consisted of sports games in the morning, like a sack-race, tag of war and a water cup race. The afternoon programme was filled with a real talent show. During the day children could have themselves transformed into a spiderman, butterfly or clown with facepainting, also carried out by the students. Additionally, there was a drawing competition for the little ones. The complete event was sponsored by Mining and Mineral company Base Titanium, based in Kwale county. The day was a great success, the students learned a lot, had the opportunity to give something back to the community and made many new friends on this marvelous day of games, smiles and a lot of fun!

We would like to thank Base Titanium for making contributing to this event all the students and student of Friends for Life and volunteers of ‘Just be a Child’ for their enthusiasm and efforts.
